Calcite

Shullsburg Area, Upper Mississippi Mining District, Lafayette County, Wisconsin, USA

Ex. Bert Helwig Collection

 7.8 x 4.5 x 3.5 cm

A unique sceptered style crystal of calcite from the well know occurrence in Shullsburg, Wisconsin. This specimen features a combination of 2 different crystal habits. A rhombic transparent calcite sits atop a perfectly formed scalenohedral calcite crystal. The top part of the dog tooth termination can be seen penetrating through the rhombic crystal. In addition, the entire specimen has a faint dusting of marcasite inclusions. There are a few minor dings on this piece but it doesn’t take away from the overall aesthetics. Specimens from this classic location are becoming more difficult to find on the market! Be sure to watch the video!
