Novo Horizonte in Bahia, Brazil is well known for its beautiful deposits of Rutilated Quartz, and this piece is no exception. Over the last 15+ years I’ve seen thousands of these specimens and the overall complaint with most is lack of clarity and excessive damage. This particular specimen is in the top tier of quality pieces. It displays highly reflective golden sprays of rutile incased in a slightly smoky quartz crystal with excellent clarity and luster. In addition, there are some small hematite plates with metallic luster attached to the rutile.
