Quartz w/ Iridescent Goethite
Amoron’i Mania Region, Fianarantsoa Province, Madagascar
60 x 43 x 34 mm
This specimen displays manganese rich goethite covering well formed terminated quartz crystals. Much of the goethite is covered in a vivid multicolored iridescence. The iridescent color is more than likely caused from microscopic ridges/grooves of repetitive twinning. This specimen is very good example of the most recent find of this material.
