Calcite (var. Manganese-bearing Calcite)
Idarado Mine, Quray County, Colorado, USA
Ex. Doris Mertz collection / Ex. Bert Helwig Collection
10.3 x 6.2 x 1.7 cm
A lustrous cluster of pale pink double terminated schalenohedral calcite crystals from the fairly rare locality of Quray, Colorado. This specimen actually appears to have 2 different generations of calcite growth. Underneath the large pink crystals lies an initial growth of tiny dogtooth clear calcite crystals. This piece is highly fluorescent under long wave light which can be seen in one of the photos. This piece is in excellent condition.
