Muscovite
North Bay Area, Nipissing District, Ontario, Canada
Ex. Brett Whitenack Collection
11.5 x 4.5 x 4.2
A shimmering example of foliated red Muscovite with what appears to be quartz. The term “foliated” refers to repetitive layering in metamorphic rocks. Muscovite is a great example of this geological process. The red coloring in this specimen is more than likely attributed to hematite impurities.
This specimen was a recent acquisition (May 24’) out of the collection of Brett Whitenack. Brett was an active collector for 40+ years who resided in McPherson, Kansas.
