Iridescent Sphalerite
Picher Field, Ottawa County, Oklahoma, USA
35 x 32 x 18 mm
This sphalerite specimen displays vivid multicolored natural iridescence. The iridescent color is more than likely caused from microscopic ridges/grooves of repetitive twinning. This is a great piece from the famous Tri-State Mining District. This particular specimen was mined by Bob Humiston in the late 60’s/early 70’s. The condition on the piece is fare, but the vivid color play makes up for it. Be sure to watch the video to see the specimen at its best!
