Peanut Obsidian Obelisk
Near Alamos, Sonora, Mexico
16 x 5 x 5 cm
This obelisk displays beautiful well formed spherical orbs of Feldspar and that have a beautiful chatoyant effect when light hits them. The red color in the orbs is caused by hematite staining of the feldspar. “Peanut” obsidian was discovered in the 1960’s and is a variety of Perlite. It’s been a favorite for lapidary workers for decades and locating high quality pieces such as this one is getting more difficult. It would make a great addition to anyone’s collection.
